The referee showed Franklin Treviño the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joe Bermudez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cheito Morales having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo Pinilla in the 16th minute of play forced Santa Cruz F.C.'s goalkeeper Cheito Morales to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Joe Bermudez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Reinaldo Pinilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Santa Cruz F.C.'s Giancarlo Valdez shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Felipe Pinilla but with some difficulty. Cheito Morales didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reinaldo Pinilla went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Joe Bermudez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cheito Morales was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Isla Grande F.C.'s Joe Bermudez got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cheito Morales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinaldo Pinilla , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute, Reinaldo Pinilla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Isla Grande F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 47th match minute, Santa Cruz F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Gutierrez to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Isla Grande F.C. were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joe Bermudez made a kick off. A hard shot 54 in the game by Reinaldo Pinilla from a close distance when the talented Cheito Morales managed to make a qualified save. Santa Cruz F.C.'s players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Cruz F.C.'s zone, Reinaldo Pinilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cheito Morales came out of the goal and Reinaldo Pinilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joe Bermudez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Cheito Morales made a huge save. Reinaldo Pinilla struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Cheito Morales didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Isla Grande F.C.. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Bermudez in the 65th minute of play forced Santa Cruz F.C.'s goalkeeper Cheito Morales to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Santa Cruz F.C.'s goalkeeper Cheito Morales had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reinaldo Pinilla . Beto Agurto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reinaldo Pinilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Cheito Morales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Cheito Morales managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Isla Grande F.C.'s Reinaldo Pinilla fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 90 minutes, Reinaldo Pinilla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Isla Grande F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo Pinilla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isla Grande F.C.'s Joe Bermudez got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joe Bermudez was extremely unlucky when he, in the 94th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Alexis Barrera fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Isla Grande F.C.'s protests and gave Alexis Barrera a yellow card for diving instead. Felipe Pinilla stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francesco Quiros's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. Isla Grande F.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
