Max Briceño didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Boquerones F.C.. Alejandro Gonzalez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Max Briceño having to interfere. If Sebastián Villalaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute, Humberto Carrillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fernando Batista in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alexis Carranza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alexis Carranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián Villalaz in the 18th minute of play. In the 21stth minute of the game Sebastián Villalaz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Los Boquerones F.C.'s Alexis Carranza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alejandro Gonzalez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgardo Garcia De Paredes in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Max Briceño saved Sporting de Gijon from getting behind. A collision led to Los Boquerones F.C. getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alejandro Gonzalez hit a great ball. Sporting de Gijon's Max Briceño proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijon from getting a goal against them. In the 35th match minute, Sporting de Gijon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastián Villalaz to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijon's zone, Edgardo Garcia De Paredes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Max Briceño came out of the goal and Edgardo Garcia De Paredes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sporting de Gijon booed when Los Boquerones F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Mora didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexis Carranza came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijon's Sebastián Villalaz. But to his dismay, Sebastián Villalaz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgardo Garcia De Paredes was the one to do the kick off. Edgardo Garcia De Paredes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijon's goalkeeper Max Briceño, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alexis Carranza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Max Briceño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Garcia De Paredes, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 76th minute, Alejandro Gonzalez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 78th minute, Humberto Carrillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Boquerones F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 82 played minutes Los Boquerones F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Edgardo Garcia De Paredes. If Alejandro Gonzalez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. In the 94th minute, Ulpiano Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Los Boquerones F.C.'s Leonidas Ramírez tried to score from far away in the 95th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 97th minute, Fernando Batista reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alexis Carranza. The goal made the score 2-3. The Sporting de Gijon players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
