One of Isla Caña:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Villa Rosario:s goal. The referee gave Villa Rosario a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Enrique Quirós, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Isla Caña's Jose Castro. 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Isla Caña's goal looked a bit too open when Luchito Zambrano came free, but Jose Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jose Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastián García in the 9th minute of play. Nicolás Quirós hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Enrique Quirós sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Isla Caña's Jose Castro didn't even have to move. After having played for 21 minutes, Luchito Zambrano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villa Rosario's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luchito Zambrano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isla Caña's Jose Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luchito Zambrano in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastián García in the 28th minute of play forced Isla Caña's goalkeeper Jose Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Ríos struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Sebastián Valdez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Isla Caña. Sebastián Valdez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Ríos in the 35th minute of the match. If Juan Ríos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Ríos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastián Valdez having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Villa Rosario's Luchito Zambrano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jose Castro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luchito Zambrano in the 45th minute of play forced Isla Caña's goalkeeper Jose Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Jose Castro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luchito Zambrano in the 51st minute. Leonidas Aizprua hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 66th minute, Totín Henriguez sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Villa Rosario's Sebastián Valdez didn't even have to move. After a rather tough play, Villa Rosario's Milton Bultrón got a free kick in the 68th minute. Sebastián García might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jose Castro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastián García ran back to his position shaking his head. A hard shot 90 in the game by Luchito Zambrano from a close distance when the talented Jose Castro managed to make a qualified save. Isla Caña's players were relieved. A collision led to Isla Caña getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Julio Zapata hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Sebastián García managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villa Rosario's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebastián García was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jose Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Villa Rosario walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
