Saritama Terrilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan-Alfredo Altemiz having to interfere. Jonathan Cucurull's late challenge caught a Elena's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 10 minutes, Maximo Bonilla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elena and the Gualchan players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th minute, Saritama Terrilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Xabier Elola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Saritama Terrilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Juan-Alfredo Altemiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Saritama Terrilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Elena's Ricardo Pis got control of the ball when Alfredo Mariño tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, Gualchan's Ricardo Pis threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Muruve, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Alfredo Mariño fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gualchan's protests and gave Alfredo Mariño a yellow card for diving instead. Alfredo Mariño kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Jonathan Lombraña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Elena's Saritama Terrilla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juan-Alfredo Altemiz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Xabier Elola came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Elena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xabier Elola couldn't finish the play. Elena's Saritama Terrilla got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Saritama Terrilla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Elena's supporters rose to their feet, but Saritama Terrilla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan-Alfredo Altemiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
