The audience was convinced that Escobar Larrategui's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roger Bolde was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. If Espinoza Jerez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Escobar Larrategui stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Cristobal Angles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pancho Frias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Oliva FC booed when Liga de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ubaldo Briñas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Espinoza Jerez struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Pancho Frias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oliva FC. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geovanni Sanches couldn't finish the play. When Espinoza Jerez fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oliva FC's protests and gave Espinoza Jerez a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Liga de Quito booed when Oliva FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Espinoza Jerez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Escobar Larrategui recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Geovanni Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Roger Bolde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geovanni Sanches in the 92nd minute.
