But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 袁强凡 couldn't finish the play. 12 minutes into the game, Ibarra Pita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Real Guayaquil's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.S. Emelec the free kick. Ibarra Pita kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Xofre Horihuela's late challenge caught a C.S. Emelec's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xofre Horihuela helped the player get up and apologised. Vicente Penagos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Urtats Pachon in the 17th minute of the match. 袁强凡 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Vicente Penagos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vicente Penagos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efrain Montoia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute 袁强凡 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Penagos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Real Guayaquil's Vicente Penagos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 袁强凡 in the 31st minute of play. Urtats Pachon struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Vicente Penagos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.S. Emelec. 40 minutes into the match, C.S. Emelec's goalkeeper Waldemar Matuch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Camilo Espinoso. The audience thought a goal was coming when Camilo Espinoso got free with Waldemar Matuch in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. C.S. Emelec were furious when Savaş Sarbay was red carded, 43 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Gustavo Yaner charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gustavo Yaner the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to C.S. Emelec getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Cristian Sagrario helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, C.S. Emelec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sagrario to maneuver through the defense. Waldemar Matuch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Falco, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Efrain Montoia fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Vicente Penagos, passed just outside the right post. C.S. Emelec's Waldemar Matuch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Falco in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FC Real Guayaquil's zone, 袁强凡 stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Penagos came out of the goal and 袁强凡 tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, C.S. Emelec's Cristian Sagrario got a free kick in the 78th minute. Vito Loyas, 79 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 80 played minutes C.S. Emelec got a freekick which was hit by Zornin Viniambres. FC Real Guayaquil's Vicente Penagos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Efrain Montoia in the 82nd minute of play. Waldemar Matuch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Ruidiaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vicente Penagos was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Efrain Montoia capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Efrain Montoia really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. 袁强凡 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FC Real Guayaquil's Ruperto Ruidiaz got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 95th minute Nicolas Falco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The FC Real Guayaquil fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. C.S. Emelec were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
