In the 22ndth minute of the game Mendez Estrada who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gushaguina's Sánchez Celerain was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sánchez Celerain made an important save on a dangerous shot by George Vidanes in the 26th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Gushaguina's zone, George Vidanes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sánchez Celerain came out of the goal and George Vidanes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 30 minutes into the match, Gushaguina's goalkeeper Sánchez Celerain had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by George Vidanes. If George Vidanes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th match minute, Gushaguina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Santiyan to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Fernando Cabezon from long distance, 36 minutes into the match, got Sánchez Celerain's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 38th minute, Mendez Estrada fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sánchez Celerain, passed just outside the right post. In the 39th match minute, Gushaguina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Santiyan to maneuver through the defense. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gushaguina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fernando Cabezon was slow to take the kick. During this time Liga Deportiva Universita's players had a chance to rest. Sánchez Celerain came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Liga Deportiva Universita's George Vidanes. But to his dismay, George Vidanes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José-Manuel Majua stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Andres Villalain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José-Manuel Majua recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Gushaguina's José-Manuel Majua in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Liga Deportiva Universita's goalie prevented a goal. René Vuelta's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Alessandro Herrasti skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Mendez Almuzara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Sánchez Celerain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Liga Deportiva Universita's goal looked a bit too open when José-Manuel Majua came free, but Alessandro Herrasti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gushaguina's goalkeeper Sánchez Celerain, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With his leg Alessandro Herrasti managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when Gushaguina's René Vuelta fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 85 minutes, René Vuelta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gushaguina's supporters crossed their fingers, but René Vuelta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers René Vuelta in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alessandro Herrasti saved Liga Deportiva Universita from getting behind. George Vidanes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Mendez Estrada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
