In the 3rd minute, Americo Piedeconcha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Caicedo Ageitos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 6th minute, Camilo Polanco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jama Varas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Coronel Burgueño showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cordero Merino in the 12th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Santiago Morenas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caicedo Ageitos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cordero Merino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ovidio Zuazna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of independiente magdalena booed when Toreros F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zorion Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Cordero Merino came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the independiente magdalena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cordero Merino couldn't finish the play. Ovidio Zuazna might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Coronel Burgueño. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ovidio Zuazna ran back to his position shaking his head. Alberto Estremiana hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Coronel Burgueño made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Ovidio Zuazna sent off a good shot on target. Toreros F.C.'s Coronel Burgueño played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cordero Merino in the 43rd minute of play. The long shot by Camilo Polanco in the 45th minute really tested Coronel Burgueño's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When Cordero Merino came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the independiente magdalena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cordero Merino couldn't finish the play. Cordero Merino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Coronel Burgueño tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Toreros F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ovidio Zuazna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ovidio Zuazna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Coronel Burgueño didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cordero Merino went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. When Cordero Merino came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the independiente magdalena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cordero Merino couldn't finish the play. In the 77th minute Cordero Merino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Coronel Burgueño saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Ovidio Zuazna put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Coronel Burgueño. 85 minutes into the match, Toreros F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ovidio Zuazna came free, but Coronel Burgueño reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ovidio Zuazna struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Coronel Burgueño didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for independiente magdalena. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The independiente magdalena fans cheered their team off the field, for while Toreros F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
