But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reynaldo Cajigal couldn't finish the play. The Alpargata CF fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Alpargata CF's Guamán Balaunde looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Elvis Ibarlucea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee gave Alpargata CF a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Vela Urdaneta, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Águilas FC's Jorge Leira. 0-3. Jorge Leira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guamán Balaunde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 37 played minutes Águilas FC got a freekick which was hit by Xuoco Luengas. Jorge Leira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rey Cantoral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Elvis Ibarlucea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Borja Enciso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Rey Cantoral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Leira was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Mauricio Borizar charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After having played for 58 minutes, Elvis Ibarlucea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Águilas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elvis Ibarlucea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guamán Balaunde received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Jorge Leira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rey Cantoral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68thth minute of the game Rey Cantoral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Águilas FC's Jorge Leira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With his leg Jorge Leira managed to avoid a goal in the 69thth minute, when Alpargata CF's Guamán Balaunde fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Rey Cantoral came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Alpargata CF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rey Cantoral couldn't finish the play. Alpargata CF's Borja Enciso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elvis Ibarlucea in the 77th minute of play. Jorge Leira was out of position in the 79 minute of play, and Rey Cantoral capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rey Cantoral really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. Reynaldo Cajigal might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Borja Enciso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reynaldo Cajigal ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 85th minute Reynaldo Cajigal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Borja Enciso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Elvis Ibarlucea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Águilas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Águilas FC! When the match had been going on for 94 minutes, Alpargata CF's Vela Urdaneta got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jorge Leira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rey Cantoral in the 99th minute of play forced Águilas FC's goalkeeper Jorge Leira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Alpargata CF walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
