Sergio Miro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for América de Quito. Telmo Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chico Hernani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Miro having to interfere. Sergio Miro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Telmo Carioca, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. If Chico Hernani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in CD Bagatela's zone, Eduardo Crisol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergio Miro came out of the goal and Eduardo Crisol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. CD Bagatela's Sergio Miro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Telmo Carioca in the 45th minute of play. When Telmo Carioca fell near the penalty area in the 49th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored América de Quito's protests and gave Telmo Carioca a yellow card for diving instead. In the 49th minute, Telmo Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rafael Yurre made a kick off. With his leg Sergio Miro managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when América de Quito's Telmo Carioca fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Sergio Miro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chico Hernani in the 62nd minute of the match. Sergio Miro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Chico Hernani showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 75 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Telmo Carioca got free with Sergio Miro in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the CD Bagatela defense, Telmo Carioca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sergio Miro. The CD Bagatela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sergio Miro should have stopped the shot. Telmo Carioca kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 94thth minute. Though ot was a great shot CD Bagatela's keeper Sergio Miro was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. América de Quito played a much better game than CD Bagatela and deserved their victory. The CD Bagatela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
