Mane Reboiras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zorion Narbona, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Emilio Viya might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mane Reboiras. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emilio Viya ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 17 minutes, Emilio Viya managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CS.EMELEC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emilio Viya was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Justavino Mier's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Mane Reboiras skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Xusto Biñayo came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Guncay FC's Oswaldo Indo. But to his dismay, Oswaldo Indo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 24 played minutes Zorion Narbona rounded Guncay FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. When Renán Alday came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Guncay FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Renán Alday couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute, Isaias Malave hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute of the match Angel Cribell shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xusto Biñayo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Oswaldo Indo hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emilio Viya in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mane Reboiras prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Zorion Narbona came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the CS.EMELEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zorion Narbona couldn't finish the play. Emilio Viya could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Mane Reboiras made a huge save. CS.EMELEC's Lolo Alcaraz got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Renán Alday made a kick off. Guncay FC's Oswaldo Indo got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Renán Alday managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guncay FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Renán Alday was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xusto Biñayo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emilio Viya during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Emilio Viya hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. If Oswaldo Indo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 59th minute of the match Emilio Viya completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Emilio Viya a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Emilio Viya kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Mateo Ludeña sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 69th minute, Zorion Narbona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mane Reboiras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zorion Narbona in the 71st minute of play. With a little luck, CS.EMELEC's Xusto Biñayo got control of the ball when Oswaldo Indo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 76 minutes into the game, Zorion Narbona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Mane Reboiras was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Guncay FC defense, Justavino Mier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mane Reboiras. The Guncay FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mane Reboiras should have stopped the shot. Justavino Mier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. CS.EMELEC made a substitution. Hernani Lima replaced Justavino Mier. Mateo Ludeña fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mane Reboiras having to interfere. CS.EMELEC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gonzales Modino in the 94th minute. The corner led CS.EMELEC's Gonzales Modino to fire away a dangerous shot which Mane Reboiras despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. There was no doubt that CS.EMELEC were the better team. CS.EMELEC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
