Maximo Cieza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fleitas Villar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maximo Cieza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos-Armando Guipuzcoa in the 9th minute of play. Maximo Cieza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costante Amondo in the 10th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Barcelona F.C's Juan-Carlos Gaitan got a free kick in the 11th minute. Juan-Carlos Gaitan lost his temper 13 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Barcelona F.C fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 13th minute. Penalty! Emanuel Rucabado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Bonal having to interfere. Yader Cañellas hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Adrian Bonal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Rucabado in the 25th minute of play. Maximo Cieza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos-Armando Guipuzcoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maximo Cieza came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente F.C.'s Fleitas Villar. But to his dismay, Fleitas Villar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 32nd minute Fleitas Villar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximo Cieza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Gacel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Emanuel Rucabado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Adrian Bonal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrian Bonal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Rucabado, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 43rd minute, Emanuel Rucabado reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Adrian Bonal. The goal made the score 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos-Armando Guipuzcoa to strike the kick off in the second half. Adrian Bonal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urbasa Llamazares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Independiente F.C. defense, Hugo Gacel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrian Bonal. The Independiente F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrian Bonal should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Barcelona F.C's Maximo Cieza got control of the ball when Fleitas Villar tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos-Armando Guipuzcoa in the 59th minute of play forced Barcelona F.C's goalkeeper Maximo Cieza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Rucabado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Bonal having to interfere. Maximo Cieza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yader Cañellas in the 66th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Yader Cañellas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Maximo Cieza. That made the score 2-3 in the 68 minute of play. 71 minutes into the game, one of Barcelona F.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 77 minutes into the match, Independiente F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Rucabado came free, but Adrian Bonal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Emanuel Rucabado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maximo Cieza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walter Narria in the 96th minute of play. The Independiente F.C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Independiente F.C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
