Vencedores FC's Rodolfo Fandoz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Vencedores FC from getting a goal against them. The corner ended in Zuri Benavidez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Vencedores FC's Rodolfo Fandoz did a great save. After having played for 23 minutes, Genaro Ebro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.S. EMELEC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genaro Ebro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Vencedores FC's zone, Genaro Ebro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodolfo Fandoz came out of the goal and Genaro Ebro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vencedores FC's Rodolfo Fandoz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genaro Ebro in the 28th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match, Genaro Ebro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rodolfo Fandoz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in C.S. EMELEC's zone, Quintana Oviedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniel Novales came out of the goal and Quintana Oviedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Novales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Gotor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genaro Ebro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If George Gotor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Quintana Oviedo made a kick off. The supporters of C.S. EMELEC booed when Vencedores FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manolo Biñe didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 54 played minutes, C.S. EMELEC's Zuri Benavidez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rodolfo Fandoz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in C.S. EMELEC reached it. Mellington Espinosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by George Gotor got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Mellington Espinosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodolfo Fandoz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mellington Espinosa's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Daniel Novales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quintana Oviedo in the 73rd minute of the match. When Genaro Ebro came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the C.S. EMELEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Genaro Ebro couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute, Vencedores FC's Mauricio Bustelo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Mauricio Bustelo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Vencedores FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mauricio Bustelo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 87 minutes into the game, one of Vencedores FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Vencedores FC:s Rodolfo Fandoz showed great skill when he stopped Zuri Benavidez:s penalty. Genaro Ebro struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Rodolfo Fandoz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.S. EMELEC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zernin Toral during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of C.S. EMELEC booed when Vencedores FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zernin Toral didn't get a good kick on the ball. George Gotor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Novales having to interfere. Vencedores FC's George Gotor got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
