The supporters of Cruz Azul booed when UD Churumanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tenorio Trasmiera didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cruz Azul's zone, Frutos Riero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zuñiga Miras came out of the goal and Frutos Riero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antero Jatkola in the 74th minute of play forced UD Churumanga's goalkeeper Xulio Goztros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ximen Echarriza kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Azconzábal Retes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Xulio Goztros. UD Churumanga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Azconzábal Retes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. When Azconzábal Retes came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Cruz Azul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Azconzábal Retes couldn't finish the play. Zuñiga Miras was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Frutos Riero showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 95 minute of play. The Cruz Azul support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
