Aurelio Fontanez scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mendoza Peralta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. San Fransisco de Quito's Aurelio Fontanez got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 43rd match minute, Saltana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zabal Monsagrati to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, San Fransisco de Quito's Edson Ciaño broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Félix Varga was the one to do the kick off. A wasted opportunity for San Fransisco de Quito. Freddy Cañas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Félix Varga in the 59th minute of play. Félix Varga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Freddy Cañas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lorenzo Rojica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. San Fransisco de Quito walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
