When Bernardo Calvo fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sapote SC's protests and gave Bernardo Calvo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sapote SC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Bernardo Calvo hit a great ball. Armando Valderrabano, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Sapote SC's José-Francisco Hoz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Segio Echeguren in the 20th minute of play. If Martin Olarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José-Francisco Hoz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Olarte in the 24th minute of the match. Bernardo Calvo was shown his second yellow card after 25 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 25 played minutes Sapote SC got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Calvo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Olarte in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José-Francisco Hoz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Sapote SC's José-Francisco Hoz got control of the ball when Machado Noguera tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Martin Olarte to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Vellito Luina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cristal FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sapote SC the free kick. In the 53rd minute, Vellito Luina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cristal FC's goalkeeper Rosario Casados, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 58 played minutes Sapote SC got a freekick which was hit by David Fermoso. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Olarte in the 61st minute of play forced Sapote SC's goalkeeper José-Francisco Hoz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ataulfo Berda took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rosario Casados. Rosario Casados dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ataulfo Berda got free with Rosario Casados in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ataulfo Berda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rosario Casados having to interfere. Hector-Luis Tarrero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rosario Casados read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Carlos Inda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Rosario Casados made a huge save. With a little luck, Cristal FC's Rosario Casados got control of the ball when Ataulfo Berda tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 79 played minutes Cristal FC got a freekick which was hit by Segio Echeguren. In the 80th minute, Ataulfo Berda made a precise shot to the right of Rosario Casados. Cristal FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. With a little luck, Cristal FC's Rosario Casados got control of the ball when Ataulfo Berda tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sapote SC's zone, Machado Noguera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José-Francisco Hoz came out of the goal and Machado Noguera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 93 minutes into the match, Sapote SC's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Olarte came free, but José-Francisco Hoz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Machado Noguera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sapote SC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
