The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But to his dismay, Xavier Olarria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Los Toreros's zone, Xavier Olarria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zeledon Nieva came out of the goal and Xavier Olarria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Olarria in the 32nd minute of play forced Los Toreros's goalkeeper Zeledon Nieva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. López Mexia's late challenge caught a Los Toreros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. López Mexia helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th minute, López Mexia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Los Toreros's Eduardo Zaera managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Denis Cao in the 42 minute of the game. After 46 played minutes Los Toreros got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Cardet. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Xavier Olarria made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Xavier Olarria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zeledon Nieva was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Xavier Olarria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Zeledon Nieva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st match minute, Ventanas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Nicola to maneuver through the defense. Xavier Olarria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zeledon Nieva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavier Olarria in the 65th minute of play. Zeledon Nieva made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Xavier Olarria sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Los Toreros's Marcos Cardet got a free kick in the 69th minute.
