Atletas de Cristo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Delgado Murueta took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 15th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Díaz Olaiz. Atletas de Cristo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Atletas de Cristo's goal looked a bit too open when Mateus Arvelo came free, but Díaz Olaiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Club Sport Emelec's González Juan got control of the ball when Pablo Sisalde tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Club Sport Emelec getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Mateus Arvelo hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Club Sport Emelec's goalkeeper González Juan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Samaniego Moraza. Cesar Servin's late challenge caught a Club Sport Emelec's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cesar Servin helped the player get up and apologised. Díaz Olaiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mateus Arvelo went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martín Mandrak in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Díaz Olaiz saved Atletas de Cristo from getting behind. Atletas de Cristo's Díaz Olaiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateus Arvelo in the 32nd minute of play. Díaz Olaiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mateus Arvelo went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Clemente Lloves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd play minute Samaniego Moraza came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised González Juan. 1-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Samaniego Moraza to make the kick off. Díaz Olaiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leif Helander in the 59th minute of play. Díaz Olaiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Adriano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Atletas de Cristo booed when Club Sport Emelec was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martín Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. González Juan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samaniego Moraza in the 63rd minute of play. Mateus Arvelo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Díaz Olaiz made a huge save. When Mateus Arvelo came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Club Sport Emelec fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mateus Arvelo couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Atletas de Cristo's Díaz Olaiz got control of the ball when Leif Helander tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Diego Proaño fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atletas de Cristo's protests and gave Diego Proaño a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Atletas de Cristo getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Diego Proaño hit a great ball. Mateus Arvelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Díaz Olaiz having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Atletas de Cristo's Ubendu Villaraud got a free kick in the 76th minute. Club Sport Emelec's Martín Mandrak got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Díaz Olaiz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leif Helander, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Díaz Olaiz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mateus Arvelo in the 82nd minute. With 84 minutes on the clock, Ubendu Villaraud commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 83 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atletas de Cristo! Diego Proaño hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Atletas de Cristo's Díaz Olaiz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Atletas de Cristo from getting a goal against them. Díaz Olaiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martín Mandrak in the 91st minute of the match. Díaz Olaiz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leif Helander, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. 98 minutes into the match, Atletas de Cristo's goal looked a bit too open when Martín Mandrak came free, but Díaz Olaiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Sport Emelec's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
