Spectators: 8121 (Terracing: 6093, Seating: 1867, VIP seats: 161) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Javier Orengo started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Cango's zone, Ubendu Carreiras stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patricio Roches came out of the goal and Ubendu Carreiras tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Javier Orengo took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelo Cardiel. Marcelo Cardiel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ubendu Carreiras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Patricio Roches tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ubendu Carreiras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Roches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jurand Tarasek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute Jurand Tarasek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Roches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patricio Roches didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 38th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. 42 minutes into the match, Cango's goalkeeper Patricio Roches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jurand Tarasek. Jurand Tarasek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Patricio Roches made a huge save. Jurand Tarasek might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patricio Roches. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jurand Tarasek ran back to his position shaking his head. Patricio Roches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurand Tarasek in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Ionuț Aldulea struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Patricio Roches didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente de Quito. Patricio Roches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jurand Tarasek, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 60th minute, Jurand Tarasek left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independiente de Quito fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. When Jurand Tarasek came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Independiente de Quito fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jurand Tarasek couldn't finish the play. Patricio Roches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jurand Tarasek, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Romário Caicedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patricio Roches read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Jurand Tarasek notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Cango's Patricio Roches. Patricio Roches was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Independiente de Quito made a substitution. Justavino Gaztelumendi replaced Jurand Tarasek. Cango's Patricio Roches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justavino Gaztelumendi in the 80th minute of play. Ubendu Carreiras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Roches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justavino Gaztelumendi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Independiente de Quito walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
