Millonarios's Hector Andia managed to work through Independiente de Quito's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. The audience was convinced that Ferrer Fito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasco Hurdinosa was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Vasco Codina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Andia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Andia in the 72nd minute of play forced Independiente de Quito's goalkeeper Vasco Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loco Surga kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente de Quito's zone, Iachetti Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vasco Codina came out of the goal and Iachetti Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Espinola Maestu in the 82nd minute of play forced Independiente de Quito's goalkeeper Vasco Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ferrer Fito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Vasco Hurdinosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zeru Conti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Johnny Falip hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Ferrer Fito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
