After having played for 52 minutes, Macias Piñango managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carnot's supporters crossed their fingers, but Macias Piñango was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carnot's Chico Carabajo got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Carnot's Alonzo Sagastia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. If Chico Carabajo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the game, Estevez Blanch was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente de Quito's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carnot the free kick. A collision led to Independiente de Quito getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Estevez Blanch hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, Chico Carabajo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 72 minutes into the match, Carnot's goal looked a bit too open when Loco Surga came free, but Nando Torralbo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fidel Alcedo charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fidel Alcedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 75 minutes into the game, Gonzalo Pedro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carnot's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente de Quito the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Carnot's zone, Santos Albarellos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nando Torralbo came out of the goal and Santos Albarellos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angel Lizaso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Carnot left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Independiente de Quito.
