Xarles Burgoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Alamon in the 11th minute of play. If Aurelio Martijana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armando Hordoñez might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Xarles Burgoa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armando Hordoñez ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 19th minute Aurelio Martijana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xarles Burgoa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Armando Hordoñez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Xarles Burgoa made a huge save. After 22 played minutes CD Guanabana got a freekick which was hit by Domingo Viedes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Martijana in the 22nd minute of play forced CD Guanabana's goalkeeper Xarles Burgoa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aurelio Martijana in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Xarles Burgoa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Omar Miralles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Xarles Burgoa made a huge save. Xavion Rulan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Telmo Antecha in the 34th minute of the match. CD Guanabana's Xarles Burgoa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Omar Miralles in the 37th minute of play. Almendral were furious when Romulo Favalis was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of CD Guanabana booed when Almendral was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romulo Favalis didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Telmo Antecha in the 42nd minute of play forced Almendral's goalkeeper Xavion Rulan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Domingo Viedes scored 0-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Xavion Rulan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Yépez Cotes made in the 46th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Armando Hordoñez immediately put the ball in play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Omar Miralles to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Omar Miralles in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 61st minute, Santiago Alamon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Xarles Burgoa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Miralles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Telmo Antecha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Xavion Rulan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute of the match, Zuñiga Zamora tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Xavion Rulan saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 73 minutes into the match, CD Guanabana's goal looked a bit too open when Omar Miralles came free, but Xarles Burgoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 74 played minutes CD Guanabana got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Mesones. After 76 played minutes Almendral got a freekick which was hit by Yépez Cotes. Xarles Burgoa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Omar Miralles went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Xavion Rulan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Telmo Antecha in the 86th minute. 88 minutes into the match, Telmo Antecha dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Xavion Rulan, 1-2. Chants of CD Guanabana echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Almendral had held the ball for most of the match.
