Teofilio Ubago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15thth minute of the game Hernandez Pandal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Almendral's Xavion Rulan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The goalkeeper, Xavion Rulan, was totally fooled by Sao FC's Ataulfo Cerezo, who 22 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Teofilio Ubago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Martijana, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Cotera Cañas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sao FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cotera Cañas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st minute, Omar Miralles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 45 minutes into the game, Urki Herquinigo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sao FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Almendral the free kick. A collision led to Sao FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Urki Herquinigo hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Omar Miralles was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Omar Miralles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Almendral fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Teofilio Ubago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Martijana in the 56th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Almendral's Omar Miralles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teofilio Ubago narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Fidel Alsua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teofilio Ubago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Omar Miralles, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Aurelio Martijana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Teofilio Ubago having to make a save. Xavion Rulan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cotera Cañas in the 79th minute of the match. Armando Hordoñez hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Omar Miralles kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Teofilio Ubago. That made the score 2-2 in the 84 minute of play. A throw-in in the 89th minute of the game was made by Luciano Tremiño with Yépez Cotes as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 91st minute, Omar Miralles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Despite being the better team, Almendral failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
