After a rather tough play, Guayaquil S.C.'s Urdaspal Aviñante got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 4th minute of the match Lopez Sociats shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xalvador Rodas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Guayaquil S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Zilar Castelo came free, but Xalvador Rodas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Méndez Orgaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xalvador Rodas having to interfere. In the 19th minute Méndez Orgaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xalvador Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guayaquil S.C.'s Xalvador Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Cavadas in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the game, Vistruario Ucedo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CAIW's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guayaquil S.C. the free kick. Vistruario Ucedo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the match, Rolando Peramato dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Victoriano Galdo, 1-0. Guayaquil S.C.'s Xalvador Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Cavadas in the 40th minute of play. Rixon Armesto's late challenge caught a Guayaquil S.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rixon Armesto helped the player get up and apologised. Rixon Armesto hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match.

In the 52nd match minute, CAIW was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zilar Castelo to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Méndez Orgaz during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 54th minute, Méndez Orgaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Victoriano Galdo came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Guayaquil S.C.'s Rolando Peramato. But to his dismay, Rolando Peramato quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Xalvador Rodas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Cavadas in the 60th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Cavadas in the 64th minute of play forced Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper Xalvador Rodas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute of the match, Méndez Orgaz got a very nice opportunity to score, but Xalvador Rodas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Xalvador Rodas made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Zilar Castelo sent off a good shot on target. Méndez Orgaz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Xalvador Rodas made a huge save. Xalvador Rodas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lopez Sociats, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The supporters of CAIW booed when Guayaquil S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Urdaspal Aviñante didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Hector Cavadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xalvador Rodas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Cavadas in the 85th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Cavadas in the 87th minute of play forced Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper Xalvador Rodas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Urdaspal Aviñante scored 4-0 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Victoriano Galdo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Guayaquil S.C. support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
