In the 5thth minute of the game Iza Iruz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CD Angelita's Johnny Thomas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Anibal Ybarbo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Riofrio in the 11th minute. 17 minutes into the game, Marlon Valdovinos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universidad Catolica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CD Angelita the free kick. In the 17th match minute, Universidad Catolica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marlon Valdovinos to maneuver through the defense. Anibal Ybarbo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yoelvis Ascarza, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Richard Azurmendi took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anibal Ybarbo. Anibal Ybarbo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Segundo Barbadillo in the 28th minute of play forced CD Angelita's goalkeeper Johnny Thomas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anibal Ybarbo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Riofrio in the 30th minute. When Marlon Valdovinos came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Universidad Catolica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marlon Valdovinos couldn't finish the play. 38 minutes into the game, Yoelvis Ascarza recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Anibal Ybarbo. Yoelvis Ascarza showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Segundo Barbadillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Thomas having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yoelvis Ascarza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Yoelvis Ascarza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anibal Ybarbo. Universidad Catolica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yoelvis Ascarza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. If Iza Iruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gabriel Badillo fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CD Angelita's protests and gave Gabriel Badillo a yellow card for diving instead. 62 minutes into the match, Yoelvis Ascarza notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Universidad Catolica's Anibal Ybarbo. Anibal Ybarbo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yoelvis Ascarza in the 66th minute of play forced Universidad Catolica's goalkeeper Anibal Ybarbo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anibal Ybarbo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Riofrio in the 84th minute of the match. A collision led to CD Angelita getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Vicente Molledo hit a great ball. Anibal Ybarbo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yoelvis Ascarza in the 92nd minute of play. Segundo Barbadillos short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Johnny Thomas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Universidad Catolica's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
