Guillermo Pontones took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cotera Gavela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes into the match, Eduardo Navariega had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yépez Torrent. Los Piqueros Patas Azules's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eduardo Navariega was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The Los Piqueros Patas Azules players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cuenca S.C were winning 0-9.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eduardo Navariega to strike the kick off in the second half. Yépez Torrent was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cuenca S.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Jairo Berastegui was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yépez Torrent breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Armando Alamea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xulio Arvelo struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Yépez Torrent didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Carabalí Quelia was extremely unlucky when he, in the 91st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 93rd minute, Carabalí Quelia made a precise shot to the right of Yépez Torrent. Los Piqueros Patas Azules's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-17. Xulio Arvelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cuenca S.C played a much better game than Los Piqueros Patas Azules and deserved their victory. The Los Piqueros Patas Azules players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
