Gualaceo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C. D. Guayaquil the free kick. After 3 played minutes Gualaceo FC got a freekick which was hit by Thiago de Andrade. Thiago de Andrade got a throw-in 7 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Xantalen Acebedo. Agostinho Prestes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oxarra Bernaldo went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to C. D. Guayaquil getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Leo Løhr hit a great ball. Agostinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oxarra Bernaldo in the 20th minute of play. Agostinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oxarra Bernaldo in the 21st minute of play. After some careless play in the Gualaceo FC defense, Oxarra Bernaldo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Agostinho Prestes. The Gualaceo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Agostinho Prestes should have stopped the shot. Leo Løhr's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Agostinho Prestes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oxarra Bernaldo in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Agostinho Prestes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 29 minutes, Oxarra Bernaldo made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Gualaceo FC's Agostinho Prestes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32ndth minute of the game Oxarra Bernaldo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gualaceo FC's Agostinho Prestes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Agostinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Løhr in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xantalen Acebedo in the 37th minute of play forced C. D. Guayaquil's goalkeeper Aires Cendegui to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gualaceo FC's Thiago de Andrade got his second yellow card of the match in the 44th minute. The referee ordered Thiago de Andrade off the ground. In the 45th minute, Thiago de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 48th minute, Gualaceo FC's Monge Goicoechea seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Monge Goicoechea the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Gualaceo FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Monge Goicoechea had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gualaceo FC! Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Gualaceo FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Luis-Antonio Igareda hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gualaceo FC's zone, Oxarra Bernaldo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agostinho Prestes came out of the goal and Oxarra Bernaldo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oxarra Bernaldo in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Agostinho Prestes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leo Løhr's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Agostinho Prestes firmly grabbed it by the left post. Agostinho Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Pons in the 85th minute of play. Agostinho Prestes made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when García Esquivel sent off a good shot on target. Osvaldo Olivos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. C. D. Guayaquil's attentive Rúben Costa managed to snatch the ball when Sandro Soporta made a throw-in in the 95th minute of the game. Agostinho Prestes came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by C. D. Guayaquil's Leo Løhr. But to his dismay, Leo Løhr quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. The C. D. Guayaquil supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing C. D. Guayaquil would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
