Botello Pinto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 36th minute Neycho Sergiev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto Sotres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Neycho Sergiev cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Fausto Sotres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
After a rather tough play, FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's Wojciech Pliszka got a free kick in the 51st minute. Urrutia Chavarria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Botello Pinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play.
