Éric Cantona started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when FC Philotimo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel dos Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitomir Vutov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Éric Cantona in the 6th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aryakumara Snow got free with Sebastian Hellkvist in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vitomir Vutov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jakub Ziombkowski in the 14th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aryakumara Snow in the 15th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 16 minutes Inter de Guayaquil FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stig-Arne Valler who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Aryakumara Snow managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. With a little luck, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist got control of the ball when Aryakumara Snow tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vitomir Vutov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Éric Cantona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, FC Philotimo's goal looked a bit too open when Éric Cantona came free, but Vitomir Vutov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vitomir Vutov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jakub Ziombkowski in the 23rd minute of the match. Sebastian Hellkvist made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Umea Caubilla sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute, Éric Cantona ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitomir Vutov was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 33rd minute Aryakumara Snow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Hellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Umea Caubilla could shoot a difficult shot in the 35th minute, which Sebastian Hellkvist however easily saved by the left post. Sebastian Hellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aryakumara Snow in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 44th match minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Inguma to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aryakumara Snow to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to FC Philotimo getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Mauricio Froylan hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aryakumara Snow came free, but Sebastian Hellkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jörn Svartengren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 65 minutes into the match, FC Philotimo's goalkeeper Vitomir Vutov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jörn Svartengren. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Jörn Svartengren took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Vitomir Vutov to make any attempt to save it. Vitomir Vutov came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jörn Svartengren. But to his dismay, Jörn Svartengren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. In the 78th minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jörn Svartengren dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Inter de Guayaquil FC! Stig-Arne Valler shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Efrain Fuentes might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastian Hellkvist. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Efrain Fuentes ran back to his position shaking his head. Sebastian Hellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efrain Fuentes in the 87th minute of the match. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Philotimo's goalkeeper Vitomir Vutov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lorenzo Acutain charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lorenzo Acutain the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 95 played minutes Inter de Guayaquil FC got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Acutain. In the 99th minute, Jörn Svartengren made a precise shot to the right of Vitomir Vutov. FC Philotimo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. The Inter de Guayaquil FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
