The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Atletico Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Ishmael Rois came free, but Cuarto Darroja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cuarto Darroja tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th match minute, Atletico Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cruz Torralba to maneuver through the defense. Guilllermo Labrada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cuarto Darroja having to interfere. 18 minutes into the game, Mauricio Mijangos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cleto Vango was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 21 minutes, Paio Sastrias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atletico Nacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paio Sastrias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yauacan FC's Cleto Vango played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paio Sastrias in the 24th minute of play. If Paio Sastrias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 28 played minutes Atletico Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Licerio Pelaci. Cleto Vango showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paio Sastrias, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After some careless play in the Yauacan FC defense, Paio Sastrias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cleto Vango. The Yauacan FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cleto Vango should have stopped the shot. If Paio Sastrias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Onofre Pereta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paio Sastrias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cleto Vango made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Mauricio Mijangos sent off a good shot on target. Ishmael Rois sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 57 minutes, Guilllermo Labrada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yauacan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guilllermo Labrada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Atletico Nacional's Paio Sastrias slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cleto Vango. That made the score 0-3 after 74 minutes of play. After having played for 80 minutes, Guilllermo Labrada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yauacan FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guilllermo Labrada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paio Sastrias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cruz Torralba's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cleto Vango firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Guilllermo Labrada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
