Pepillo Mesones dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Benito Barbaza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Janipa FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Benito Barbaza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alessandro Cadelo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pepillo Mesones showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lawrence Merida, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Merexildo Dorol's late challenge caught a Barranquita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Merexildo Dorol didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Joselito Nevares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Janipa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joselito Nevares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Belo Merayo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the match, Janipa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Iaki Puntones came free, but Pepillo Mesones reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Janipa FC's Pepillo Mesones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iaki Puntones in the 38th minute of play. Benito Barbaza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joselito Nevares who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Alessandro Cadelo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 41 minutes into the game, Barranquita's Gotzon Ochagavia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pepillo Mesones made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Pepillo Mesones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iaki Puntones in the 46th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Iaki Puntones made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iaki Puntones in the 54th minute of play forced Janipa FC's goalkeeper Pepillo Mesones to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gotzon Ochagavia fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barranquita's protests and gave Gotzon Ochagavia a yellow card for diving instead. The Janipa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pepillo Mesones should have stopped the shot. Eulalio Iracheta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Cadelo having to interfere.
