Roberto Aveo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Izel Falip's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giro Valda got free with Lore Arneu in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Izel Falip sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 17 minutes into the game, Poima's Izel Falip nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roberto Aveo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Charro Roza struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Roberto Aveo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poima. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xarles Argaez during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xarles Argaez to maneuver through the defense. 25 minutes into the match, Izel Falip had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roberto Aveo. Quito's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Izel Falip was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. A collision led to Poima getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. The referee ignored Poima's protests and gave Madaleno Pantojas a yellow card for diving instead. After 32 played minutes Poima got a freekick which was hit by Madaleno Pantojas. Roberto Aveo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Izel Falip in the 34th minute of play. Izel Falip might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roberto Aveo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Izel Falip ran back to his position shaking his head. Izel Falip received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Roberto Aveo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Izel Falip sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Charro Roza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Aveo having to interfere. The Quito players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Poima were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Desire Michelena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Charro Roza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Roberto Aveo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Quito's Quique Valls sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lore Arneu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lore Arneu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giro Valda, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Izel Falip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Aveo having to interfere. Quique Valls kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Giro Valda might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lore Arneu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giro Valda ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Poima's goalkeeper Lore Arneu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Izel Falip came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Poima fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Izel Falip couldn't finish the play. Izel Falip could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Roberto Aveo made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Poima had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
