Jimeno Cortinez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Goitia having to interfere. A collision led to Independiente del Huila getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Frichoso Chapa hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Independiente del Huila's Jimeno Cortinez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emanuel Goitia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 33rd minute of the match Independiente del Huila got a corner. FC America S.A's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Victorio Lerin ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC America S.A's Emanuel Goitia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frichoso Chapa in the 42nd minute of play. Emanuel Goitia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimeno Cortinez in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frichoso Chapa in the 45th minute of play forced FC America S.A's goalkeeper Emanuel Goitia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the match, Jimeno Cortinez notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of FC America S.A's Emanuel Goitia. Emanuel Goitia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Independiente del Huila were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frichoso Chapa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jimeno Cortinez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emanuel Goitia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldinho Incera during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th match minute, FC America S.A was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldinho Incera to maneuver through the defense. Independiente del Huila made a substitution. Inigo Galbarruri replaced Cipriano Lagarejos. Jimeno Cortinez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Aloisio Guceño hit a great ball. 85 minutes into the game, Victorio Lerin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emanuel Goitia. Victorio Lerin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Frichoso Chapa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match was over Independiente del Huila could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC America S.A throughout the match.
