Ruy Piedeconcha started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Balseadero's goalkeeper Marcones Arzalaga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaizka Eleizalde. When Balseadero's Josepe Masas in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Romildo Helguero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cañoneros club's Romildo Helguero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rius Orbe in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th match minute, Balseadero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rius Orbe to maneuver through the defense. Rius Orbe's late challenge caught a Cañoneros club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rius Orbe helped the player get up and apologised. Marcones Arzalaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruy Piedeconcha in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th match minute, Cañoneros club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olayo Mauriz to maneuver through the defense. After 37 minutes of play, Balseadero's Sasoin Gañona made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romildo Helguero was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Gaizka Eleizalde managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cañoneros club's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaizka Eleizalde was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcones Arzalaga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Josepe Masas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romildo Helguero having to interfere. When Cañoneros club's Ruy Piedeconcha in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Balseadero's goalie prevented a goal. If Gaizka Eleizalde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Josepe Masas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodoro Casar during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Teodoro Casar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sasoin Gañona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romildo Helguero having to interfere. When Henric Sudupe fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cañoneros club's protests and gave Henric Sudupe a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Cañoneros club's Henric Sudupe got a free kick in the 61st minute. Josepe Masas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Romildo Helguero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 67th minute, Zoil Lobo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balseadero fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Josepe Masas might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romildo Helguero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Josepe Masas ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ourente Urones got free with Romildo Helguero in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Cañoneros club's zone, Zoil Lobo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romildo Helguero came out of the goal and Zoil Lobo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 86 played minutes Balseadero got a freekick which was hit by Zemario Herbi. In the 91st minute, Ruy Piedeconcha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcones Arzalaga was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. When the match was over Balseadero could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cañoneros club throughout the match.
