The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximo Mathey got free with Inocencio Chavarria in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Atlético Nacional's Mendebal Loro got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Otoniel Uria charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otoniel Uria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Otoniel Uria kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half Atlético Nacional were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mendebal Loro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Matia Gainza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evangelista Barga having to interfere. Cedro Varsana succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 63rd playminute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maximo Mathey in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. After a defensive mix-up in Montemar FC's zone, Cedro Varsana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evangelista Barga came out of the goal and Cedro Varsana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evangelista Barga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mendebal Loro in the 77th minute of the match. Evangelista Barga stood somewhat misplaced when Mendebal Loro came free in front of goal and shot 0-3 to the left of him in the 79 minute. In the 88th minute Maximo Mathey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inocencio Chavarria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 89 minutes, Mendebal Loro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Nacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mendebal Loro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Montemar FC's goalkeeper Evangelista Barga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mendebal Loro. 93 minutes into the game, Matia Gainza recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Evangelista Barga. Matia Gainza showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Atlético Nacional's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
