Matia Gainza might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ascencio Leniz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matia Gainza ran back to his position shaking his head. Mendebal Loro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Inocencio Chavarria came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Paloverde FC's Joachim Fanego. But to his dismay, Joachim Fanego quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Inocencio Chavarria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rainerio Buyeres in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th match minute, Paloverde FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bautista Lodeña to maneuver through the defense. Cedro Varsana struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Ascencio Leniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Nacional. Matia Gainza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ascencio Leniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Mendebal Loro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
