The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in La selección's zone, Ireno Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Munio Rodrigo came out of the goal and Ireno Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 5th minute of the match Solustiano Arena shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Helder Boliaga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 6th minute Ireno Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Munio Rodrigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 10 minutes, Gaufred Barrasa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La selección and the Barranquilla players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11th minute of the match Dante Alday shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Munio Rodrigo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Xoan Espoa's late challenge caught a Barranquilla's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xoan Espoa helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes La selección got a freekick which was hit by Gaufred Barrasa. Dante Alday was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Ireno Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Munio Rodrigo having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Maximo Portillo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Helder Boliaga, passed just outside the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as La selección's Maximo Portillo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Helder Boliaga. That made the score 2-0 after 39 minutes of play. In the 43rd minute, Aquilino Ascarraga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Barranquilla's zone, Maximo Portillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maximo Portillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Helder Boliaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aquilino Ascarraga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barranquilla's Helder Boliaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xoan Espoa in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Aquilino Ascarraga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xoan Espoa in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Helder Boliaga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Gervasio Beteta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barranquilla's supporters rose to their feet, but Gervasio Beteta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Munio Rodrigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ireno Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maximo Portillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Helder Boliaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Maximo Portillo came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the La selección fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximo Portillo couldn't finish the play. Helder Boliaga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xoan Espoa went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 78th minute, Aquilino Ascarraga made a precise shot to the right of Helder Boliaga. Barranquilla's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Maximo Portillo struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Helder Boliaga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La selección. Xoan Espoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Helder Boliaga having to interfere. If Xoan Pato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Xoan Espoa came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the La selección fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xoan Espoa couldn't finish the play. When the referee ended the match the La selección players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
