The tension between the Matamoros and the MILLONARIOS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 20 minutes into the match, MILLONARIOS FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mambru Parserises came free, but Ospin Olvera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ospin Olvera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danel Urreta, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 24th match minute, Matamoros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oso Tosantos to maneuver through the defense. Mambru Parserises took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ospin Olvera. Ospin Olvera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Matamoros's Roque Olazagoitia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino Saiz in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Matamoros's Oso Tosantos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ospin Olvera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Oso Tosantos might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ospin Olvera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oso Tosantos ran back to his position shaking his head. Ospin Olvera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mambru Parserises, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Dino Saiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. MILLONARIOS FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dino Saiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roque Olazagoitia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Matamoros's zone, Dino Saiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roque Olazagoitia came out of the goal and Dino Saiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mambru Parserises struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Ospin Olvera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matamoros. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Mambru Parserises put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ospin Olvera. 61 minutes into the game, Matamoros's Oso Tosantos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ospin Olvera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 69 minutes into the match, Matamoros's goal looked a bit too open when Dino Saiz came free, but Roque Olazagoitia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Matamoros's Mambru Parserises sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ospin Olvera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 75 minutes into the game, Oso Tosantos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4.
