An unexpectedly hard shot by Eriberto Sainz in the 12th minute of play forced Nottingham's goalkeeper Donio Asomoza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Marin Virues's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Macerio Conde was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. If Marin Virues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donio Asomoza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 40 minutes into the match, Guaranda's goal looked a bit too open when Marin Virues came free, but Macerio Conde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 41 minutes, Lizardi Catanach managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nottingham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lizardi Catanach was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Lizardi Catanach got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Nottingham supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Guaranda's performance. The match ended with a win for Guaranda.
