The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mazuste Pagola in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Cuezba saved Vijes from getting behind. The supporters of Vijes booed when Liverpool Never Gives Up was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Balbas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adan Gauna, 8 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Llorienzo Piña charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Llorienzo Piña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 9 played minutes Liverpool Never Gives Up got a freekick which was hit by Llorienzo Piña. After having played for 14 minutes, Felix Herbella managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool Never Gives Up's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Herbella was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vijes's Justo Ballestero got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool Never Gives Up's zone, Bernardo Oliver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Obeko Areta came out of the goal and Bernardo Oliver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mazuste Pagola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Martin Cuezba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Felix Herbella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Liverpool Never Gives Up booed when Vijes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Demetrio Alcazar didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Justo Ballestero got free with Obeko Areta in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Leoiar Escalera hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bernardo Oliver in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Obeko Areta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 42nd minute of the match, Justo Ballestero got a very nice opportunity to score, but Obeko Areta was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Felix Herbella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mazuste Pagola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Cuezba having to interfere. Obeko Areta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mazuste Pagola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
