Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Jesco Carbasa started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 5th minute of the match Luciano Uja shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Txilar Urraburu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 6 minutes, Reimundo Urtuuste managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sport United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reimundo Urtuuste was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesco Carbasa in the 10th minute of play forced Sport United's goalkeeper Txilar Urraburu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Demesio Ferran fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortuna Xvii's protests and gave Demesio Ferran a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sport United booed when Fortuna Xvii was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Demesio Ferran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Sport United were awarded a corner. Claude Maestu went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Claude Maestu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Peter Dopazo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 20th minute Jesco Carbasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Txilar Urraburu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jesco Carbasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jesco Carbasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Txilar Urraburu having to make a save. Txilar Urraburu came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Fortuna Xvii's Hondo Carrillo. But to his dismay, Hondo Carrillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Markvincent Trasagua came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Fortuna Xvii fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Markvincent Trasagua couldn't finish the play. After having played for 35 minutes, Jesco Carbasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fortuna Xvii's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jesco Carbasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Sport United's goalkeeper Txilar Urraburu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hondo Carrillo. Jesco Carbasa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Txilar Urraburu having to interfere. In the 41st match minute, Sport United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tonete Bayo to maneuver through the defense. Txilar Urraburu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jesco Carbasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Fortuna Xvii's Hondo Carrillo got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Sport United's Txilar Urraburu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jesco Carbasa in the 52nd minute of play. 55 minutes into the game, one of Fortuna Xvii:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The score was 1-1 after a penalty in the 57th minute, where Sport United:s Claude Maestu tricked Fortuna Xvii:s Peter Dopazo with a difficult ball by the left post. Txilar Urraburu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jesco Carbasa in the 59th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Sport United's goal looked a bit too open when Hondo Carrillo came free, but Txilar Urraburu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jesco Carbasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of Sport United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Fortuna Xvii:s goal. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport United's goalkeeper Txilar Urraburu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Hondo Carrillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jesco Carbasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Txilar Urraburu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Hondo Carrillo came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Fortuna Xvii fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hondo Carrillo couldn't finish the play.
