After 18 played minutes FC America de Cali got a freekick which was hit by Calixto Somoza. With a little luck, Betania's Errolan Paz got control of the ball when Bazil Ribacoba tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Distiratsu Seca came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Betania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Distiratsu Seca couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Betania's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvino Rubio in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Errolan Paz saved Betania from getting behind. Ruisko Bebian went to the cornerflag to take it. Ruisko Bebian made a great header on FC America de Cali's corner, it was just that Betania's Errolan Paz managed to reach the ball for a save.
