After a defensive mix-up in ATLETICO NACIONAL's zone, John Villalon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denis Chago came out of the goal and John Villalon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Firmo Cerda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bahiano Santiso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes Tapa Red F.C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Venerando Sandino who took care of the corner kick. The corner led ATLETICO NACIONAL's Venerando Sandino to fire away a dangerous shot which Firmo Cerda despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If John Villalon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when John Villalon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The ATLETICO NACIONAL supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Tapa Red F.C's performance. The match ended with a win for Tapa Red F.C.
