The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lastur Ufret charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lastur Ufret the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lastur Ufret hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. If Eder Arias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jerrold Alva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urtats Arellano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Menecure's Chago Buyolo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Menecure from getting a goal against them. 34 minutes into the game, Eder Arias lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Chago Buyolo. Mergildo Subiza hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eder Arias to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Menecure was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bastiaro Monsalve to maneuver through the defense. Jerrold Alva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urtats Arellano, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. When Urtats Arellano came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Menecure fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urtats Arellano couldn't finish the play. Menecure's Chago Buyolo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eder Arias in the 65th minute of play. Guanipa FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Florin Carrera in the 67th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Prego in the 76th minute of play forced Menecure's goalkeeper Chago Buyolo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute of the match Florin Carrera sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chago Buyolo skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 80 minutes, Eder Arias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guanipa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eder Arias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivan Prego scored 2-0 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Chago Buyolo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee ignored Guanipa FC's protests and gave Cheche Villachica a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Menecure booed when Guanipa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cheche Villachica didn't get a good kick on the ball. Menecure's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
