In the 35th minute Quilo Banegas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dabi Ajorbe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derwin Pelayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaston Barcaiztegui, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Basilio Dorrego blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dabi Ajorbe having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gauargi Rivacoba in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Derwin Pelayo saved Diablos Rojos from getting behind. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Quilo Banegas was the one to do the kick off. Basilio Dorrego might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dabi Ajorbe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Basilio Dorrego ran back to his position shaking his head. Dabi Ajorbe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basilio Dorrego, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diablos Rojos's Quilo Banegas got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Diablos Rojos's goalkeeper Derwin Pelayo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
