The supporters of Matanzas FC booed when Tacagua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geofredo Medinilla didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tacagua's Matro Espindola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xuaco Romeo in the 5th minute of play. Matanzas FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tacagua the free kick. In the 17th match minute, Matanzas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cordarryl Vigil to maneuver through the defense. Xuaco Romeo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Xuaco Romeo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julen Omaña in the 41st minute of play forced Matanzas FC's goalkeeper Eneas Valensuela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xuaco Romeo in the 44th minute of play forced Tacagua's goalkeeper Matro Espindola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute, Tonete Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Julen Omaña made the kick off in the second half. If Peruanton Belarrinaga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. Eneas Valensuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julen Omaña in the 58th minute of play. The long shot by Emeterio Llanderas in the 80th minute really tested Eneas Valensuela's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Julen Omaña had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rene Othaz was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Tacagua's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Rene Othaz struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of Matanzas FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tacagua:s goal. Emeterio Llanderas walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Tonete Lara's late challenge caught a Tacagua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tonete Lara helped the player get up and apologised. Tonete Lara hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Tacagua were awarded a corner in the 101th minute after Matanzas FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emeterio Llanderas took the corner. Tacagua's Emeterio Llanderas was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Eneas Valensuela in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
