Aitor Ochari fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quintyn Lainez having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Virgilio Borjas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee gave Moncho Lavijo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Moncho Lavijo kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Viana's Benet Piñango got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Bilbo Canseco hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 75 minutes into the match, Palosano's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Begal came free, but Santos Entia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gurutz Viso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santos Entia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gurutz Viso in the 89th minute of the match. Aitor Ochari's late challenge caught a Viana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 92 played minutes, Viana's Miguel Begal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Santos Entia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Viana reached it. The Viana players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
