The crowd rose to their feet as Deportivo Lara's Fero Jorge slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Shepherd Reborio. That made the score 1-1 after 19 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emesto Tarsa in the 22nd minute of play forced Deportivo Lara's goalkeeper Domenico Escolar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Salbatore Bildosteguy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portuguesa's supporters rose to their feet, but Salbatore Bildosteguy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Domenico Escolar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 29 minutes into the match, Portuguesa's Emesto Tarsa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Domenico Escolar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Senon Blea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76thth minute of the game Senon Blea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Portuguesa's Shepherd Reborio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Salbatore Bildosteguy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Portuguesa were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
