Chago Calero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gauargi Astudillo having to interfere. If Gomez Sarra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nastasio Fontanez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafe Oñez in the 37th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Erauso Mazarredo got free with Nastasio Fontanez in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nastasio Fontanez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Froylan Colomo in the 40th minute of the match. Universidad Caracas's Nastasio Fontanez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roland Meleon in the 43rd minute of play. Nastasio Fontanez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafe Oñez in the 44th minute. When Gomez Sarra came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Universidad Caracas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gomez Sarra couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roland Meleon made a kick off. Nastasio Fontanez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafe Oñez, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Erauso Mazarredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nastasio Fontanez. Universidad Caracas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erauso Mazarredo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 57 minutes into the match, Universidad Caracas's goal looked a bit too open when Rafe Oñez came free, but Nastasio Fontanez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Froylan Colomo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Nastasio Fontanez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nastasio Fontanez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roland Meleon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nastasio Fontanez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erauso Mazarredo in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mambru Legorburu in the 65th minute of play forced Universidad Caracas's goalkeeper Nastasio Fontanez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nastasio Fontanez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafe Oñez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes into the game, Deportivo San Cristóbal's Roland Meleon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
