The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes of play, Hoisington's Glenn Shapiro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eli Boyd was left in no man's land by his defense there! Roger Pulliam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eli Boyd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keith Stinson in the 13th minute of the match. Eli Boyd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Keith Stinson in the 17th minute of play. Dwayne Matthews struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Philip Metz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Delmont FC. Edward Joseph hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute, Roger Pulliam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glenn Shapiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Hoisington's Philip Metz got control of the ball when Marcellus Pollard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcellus Pollard struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Philip Metz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Delmont FC. Glenn Shapiro took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eli Boyd. Eli Boyd dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcellus Pollard to strike the kick off in the second half. Jess Larson charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jess Larson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Delmont FC's Roger Pulliam got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Hoisington booed when Delmont FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcellus Pollard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eli Boyd made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Shelton Bright sent off a good shot on target. Bernardo Epperson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 75 minutes, Roger Pulliam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Delmont FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roger Pulliam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eli Boyd made an important save on a dangerous shot by Glenn Shapiro in the 82nd minute. Delmont FC were furious when Rusty Perry was red carded, 87 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Bernardo Epperson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eli Boyd read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Roger Pulliam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th match minute, Hoisington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jess Larson to maneuver through the defense. The Hoisington supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Hoisington would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
